Why the name change from Ciation Investment Club? The term Investment Club implied joining a group of fellow investors to manage a common brokerage account. That's not the function of our website. Instead we provide our subscribers (novice or expert individual investors) access to our proprietary stock research statistics along with helpful links to other well known research sites. As a subscriber you will have browser-based access to our grading and other metrics which you can use to confidently manage your own money through a trading account with the Broker of your choice (we are not a broker). Suggestions and common experiences using our research can be shared using the feedback forms on the "Contact Us" page. You may gain immediate access by signing-up.

What method/forms of payment are acceptable? We use PayPal as our payment processor. You may use your PayPal account or you may use any of the credit cards listed as valid on the PayPal website to make subscription payments. During the sign-up process you will be sent to PayPal's secure site to set up your method of payment for our subscription. Once payment is set up PayPal's site will automatically redirect you back to this site for immediate access to our web-based subscription content. You may begin the sign-up process by clicking here.

What personal financial information is stored on your site? We do not store any of your personal financial information on our site (we don't even collect it). Secure encrypted subscription payment processing is handled by PayPal. See our privacy statement for further details.

What if I want to sign-up for a subscription but don't want to sign up for a PayPal account? If you would prefer not to set up a PayPal account PayPal will allow you to setup secure recurring payments using your credit card and an unfunded PayPal account (a PayPal account not attached to a bank account). PayPal is a very safe way to conduct e-commerce. At this time PayPal is our only payment processor. Our use of PayPal is a protection your financial information. Also it will provide convenience for recurring payments for your subscription to our website. If you choose to set up a PayPal account you don't have to fund it with cash if you don't choose to do so. But valid credit card information must be supplied to PayPal to provide a funding source for your recurring subscription payments (which can be canceled at anytime-see the next question).

PayPal is PCI-compliant. (Created by the PCI Security Standards Council. The PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) helps protect consumer account data. The standard requires that merchants (like PayPal) take some proactive steps to protect your information. These steps include encrypting the transmission of cardholder data, implementing strong access control measures, maintaining a secure network, and more).

Note: The only information passed between PayPal's secure site and ours is an authorization token, your name, street address, and valid email address. None of your financial information is passed to us. The email address you supply to PayPal becomes your user-id for our site, and will be used to communicate vital service information to you-such as resetting your password. Please be assured that PayPal is a safe and confidential way to pay for your subscription to our site. Additionally it provides a secondary way to manage your subscription to our site.

Alternatively, you can sign up for a Trial Subscription using only your email address without supplying a credit card by clicking here.  Note: To continue your subscription when the free Trial Period is over you will need to then use PayPal and supply a credit card.

I have heard stories of consumer fraud perpetrated against some PayPal users, is this a concern to you? There are precautions that all users carrying out online transactions would do well to heed.  See what other experts say about online safety in general and PayPal specifically. See this link.

Once I sign-up how easy is it to cancel my subscription? Your total satisfaction is our guarantee.  Providing ease-of-use is our passion. To cancel your subscription to this website all you have to do is press the Cancel Subscription button on our Subscriber Services page, which will automatically take you to PayPal's site where you press one button to cancel all future subscription charges. Or if you prefer, you may go directly to PayPal's site to cancel the recurring payment for your subscription to our website.  One of the benefits of our use of PayPal as our payment processor is its convenience for you.

Do I have to wait for the beginning of a month to sign up? No. You can sign up anytime. You will be billed every 30 days using the date of your sign up as the starting point. No proration is necessary.

What information is shown for each stock on a grading report (watch list)? The format of the information is different depending on which of our products is being used. Generally reports will show the following for each stock: current metrics, historical metrics, historical averages for certain metrics, and variances from the historical average. Historical periods are for 3, 5, 22 and 50 days.  The broad categories that our metrics fall into are price, volume, time (trading periods), and the comparison of all of the preceding between a stock and its sector and/or the stocks and the entire market. Within each of the broad categories numerous technical metrics are broken down that identify trends for each stock, and sector, and the market in general as it pertains to price and market sentiment.

How do I see a grading report for all stocks in an Industry/Sector as listed on the 'Sector Performance Snapshot' web page? Anyone can view the Sector Performance Snapshot page(s) showing statistics for each sector, but to see a link from that page to a report that breaks out all stocks in a given sector you must be a subscriber. Simply log on to the site and when the 'Successful Authentication' screen is shown click on the link titled 'Please click here to see fully activated Market Performance Snapshot Statistics'. When the Sector Performance Snapshot page appears click on the 'Sector Consistency Rank' column for your desired Industry/Sector and a grading report will be shown for all of the stocks listed within that sector.

How are Ciation's stock grades calculated? Each stock is given a grade between "A" and "F" familiar to all of us since grade school.  The grade represents each stock's current quality and future potential compared to other stocks under the current market conditions. Our analytics are based on confirmatory data analysis (CDA), where proven existing trading performance results are used to derive trading metrics for picking stocks with the best future profitability. All companies are graded on the basis of certain financial analysis and other pertinent technical criteria with a view toward maximizing the upside potential for investors while minimizing the downside risk. Standard technical indicators (such as MACD - moving average convergence/divergence, Stochastic, OBV - on balance volume, plus many more technical indicators) and our own proprietary measurements for comparative stock price strength and value are combined to give a comprehensive measurement of stock quality. Our stock grades along with our other metrics (which identify and confirm price direction) reliably reveal the profit potential of any trade. While only some 70 metrics are available for screening, many more metrics go into stock grade calculations. Other metrics that can't be represented in a screener are used to derive the stock lists available in our analytic reports.

Why do you calculate grades for only +6,000 stocks (approximately)?  There are far more stocks listed on the AMEX, NYSE and NASDAQ combined but we only grade the stocks that can be readily traded by any brokerage. Stocks that trade for less than $1.00 a share run the risk of being de-listed from the exchanges thus some brokers will not handle trades for these stocks, thus relegating them to "pink" sheets or other harder to trade methods. The real advantage of stock trading through the broader exchanges is the liquidity they provide. You can usually enter or exit any trading position in a matter of seconds, if need be, through your broker.

Now that I've signed up for a subscription how do I gain access to your stock trading metrics? Subscribers can access all subscription content after logging-in via the 'Secure Log-in' link located at the top of most pages of our website.

1. Go to the log-in page.
2. Fill in your user-id (email) and password.
3. After your login credentials are verified our Quick Start Site Map page is shown with links to all of our products/solutions. Click on any of these links and you will be taken to the appropriate product/solutions or select one from the menu selections on the left side of the page - which will be activated for subscriber content navigation.

Website pages aren't loading very quickly, what can I do? The cache settings on some browsers, or the ISP traffic load, may cause slower response when loading website pages. If this happens on our site simply press your browser's "refresh" icon (usually located at the top of the browser screen). The page will reload and will do so more quickly depending on server load.

Sometimes I click on a product link and the corresponding web page doesn't show; what can I do? Again the problem could be with your browser settings. Hold down the Ctrl or SHIFT key while clicking on the link and it should display the web page in a new tab or window. (Note: To solve this problem Internet Explorer (IE7) users can change their browser settings by doing the following:

  1. Open Internet Options on the Tools menu.
  2. Click on the General tab.
  3. Select Let Internet Explorer decide how pop-ups should open in the When a pop-up is encountered section.
  4. Click Apply and your browser should be able to open the Screener results pages in a new Tab when you click on the Search button, and open MSN Money(tm) links for each of the stock symbols displayed on the results pages.

How can the Ciation stock grades and metrics be used? Our stock grades are used most effectively for pre-market research to build watch lists for intraday trading activity. We use end-of-day market data to recalculate our metrics and analytics each day. Each stock is given a current grade which is shown on all products (Platinum and Advanced Stock Screeners, Stock Grade Report, Metrics Detail Report). The stock grade is a quantification of the technical and fundamental quality of each stock. (To see how stocks of a particular grade have performed over the past 3, 5, or 22 days you can consult the Market Statistics->Stock Grade Statistics page). On the Platinum and Advanced Screeners  you can use filters to scan for stocks of the grade, or average grade appropriate for your trading strategy--long, short, day trader, swing trader.

Besides the stock grades other metrics can be used in your screening to further filter your results to show only stocks with the price trend, market interest, sector comparison as well as other trading criteria desirable to you. When the best trading opportunities exist for a stock then the stock grade in conjunction with trading range metrics can be used to reveal them. Factors that make stocks ready to move up or down in price are quantified and can be searched for and sorted quickly (via our screeners) so that profits can be maximized and losses can be minimized.

Questions such as the following can be answered quickly using our stock grades, trading metrics and analytics.

"What's the best time frames for trading stocks with each stock grade?"
"What's the likely risk/reward of a long or short position for a stock with a particular stock grade?"
"How is a particular stock currently performing, how did it perform over the past 3,5,22 and 50 days, and how much performance likely remains?"
